Literacy Block:
  • 90 minutes uninterrupted time for Literacy Instruction
  • Components include: Writing, Read Aloud, Shared Reading, Guided Reading, Independent Reading, Assessment and Evaluation
  • Texts: Houghton Mifflin, Step Up to Writing by Maureen Auman, Strategies That Work by Anne Goudvis and Stephanie Harvey, leveled books as well as other appropriate materials
Literacy Support:
  • Soar to Success reading groups
  • Junior Great Books reading groups
  • Integration with the arts and technology
  • State Farm Reading Buddies
  • Read to Achieve reading groups
Literacy Intervention:
   Special Education
   Individual tutoring
   Individual Learning Plan based on a body of evidence including one or more:
  • CSAP (Colorado Student Assessment Program)
  • DIBELS (Benchmark Testing)
  • QRI (Qualitative Reading Inventory)
  • ALT (Assessment Level Tests)
  • Periodic running records
  • Classroom assessments
  • STAR (computerized literacy assessments)
